So Dwhite threw up a post the other day about a 2013 XFR-S for sale (asking $69k). Since it is near me, I decided to go drive it on Saturday — really, really nice car. I don’t know much about Jags, though, and am checking out the forums today to see if there are any time bombs with these. Any thoughts from those of you more knowledgeable about Jags? Should I get this? :)

I know from the Jag event I went to that Davy Jones and two other of the current and former professional drivers own(ed?) them and preferred them to the XKR-S.

As for reliability, it’s a remarkably low-volume car and not many of them get out much, so I’d be surprised if there’s much volume about issues out there unfortunately.

I love my XF and it has been pretty reliable as long as I’ve owned it. Granted mine is *not* supercharged.

I can’t speak about the unique high performance parts on the R or RS, except to say that various maintenance parts can be expensive. Brake rotors and pads for them are considerably more expensive than the regular cars, for example. That shouldn’t come as a surprise though.

The only thing I can suggest making sure it comes with some sort of warranty, factory or 3rd party. Watch for the leather dash as they have been known to bubble, if it spends any time outside, invest in a sun screen.

Mine is a 2010 N/A 5.0L, it’s got a different nose and the older nav, but rides on the same chassis and is similar. If you have any specific questions regarding the XF, I’ll try my best to help.

Drove it yesterday again — this time for a couple of hours. Fell in love, and am buying it this week. Also buying stock in tire companies because this is my other car.
